Why Horses and Why Faith-Based?
Horses are extremely sensitive and have an amazing intuition which gives them the ability to mirror the feelings and emotions of the people that are working with them. This allows participants to become more aware of their emotions and begin learning how to regulate them. Scientific studies have also shown that horses can help lower blood pressure, lower your heart rate, and help regulate the nervous system. Do you know what's even cooler? Studies have shown that when individuals engage in religious or spiritual practices (being in relationship with God) we receive the same benefits as being around the horses! With that being said, God created humans and land animals on the sixth day of creation. Genesis 1:24-31 states that God created living creatures, including livestock, and then formed humans in His image, granting them stewardship over all creation. This indicates a unique bond. Looking at the wonderful benefits of the human and horse connection you can begin to see how horses can lead us right back to Christ. Horses only care about one thing: Your heart. Because of this authentic and genuine relationship, we are able to see how the participant and horses can meet each other right where they are at. This is where hope and healing begin!!! God is the center of what we do here at The Sixth Day!
